Rearyard Infill

RRearyard infill is an older form of laneway housing that has been available in Vancouver for some time.

Rearyard infill can be built on many two-family (RT zoned) lots in Vancouver. To find out what zone you are in, view the City’s coloured zoning map.

The size of the rearyard infill allowed depends in part on the size of the existing house already on the lot. If eligible, it’s quite possible that you will be allowed to build a house larger than the 750 sq ft limit of laneway housing.

In addition, infill houses can be stratified and sold, so they are not subject to the rental-only limitation of EcoDensity laneway housing.
